Ann Goethals: Author

Hi, I'm Ann!
I am a retired high school English teacher who set aside her own writing aspirations for three decades in order to nourish those of my students in a district just north of Chicago.I retired “into COVID” (a not unhappy coincidence) and have since become my own writer again, so it is no surprise my first pieces involved the black hole we all fell into. Some of my work falls under the genre of “creative non-fiction,” formerly known as memoir. I have also written a novel called The Doublewide which, I am happy to announce will be published in September of 2025, thanks to the small but mighty MIssion Point Press who are helping me navigate 21st century book publishing. The Doublewide takes place before the pandemic, and I have described it as a “little book” as the action (small) takes place in a far northern town (small) and is concerned with people who we all too often relegate to the margins: caregivers, contractors, cashiers. I hope you read it and see in its pages the enormity of our capacity to care for each other.
